OneFlorida+ Data Trust Support

OneFlorida+ provides the following data trust support services:

i2b2 Query

Self-service access to i2b2 to identify availability of data to meet study criteria

Data Analyst Support

Data queries that require minimal programming time and data set delivery. Honest broker data analysts are able to retrieve data related to patient demographics, clinical encounter details, diagnoses, procedures, lab results, medications, patient pain scores, adult health literacy assessments, comorbidities, nursing assessments, genotyping data, biospecimen availability and patient consent for research contact. Researchers require IRB approval for each data element to be retrieved

Linkage with Datavant Software (Industry Sponsored Projects Only)

OneFlorida+ utilizes Datavant’s Linkage Solution software. The patient data in the OneFlorida+ Data Trust are linked securely and anonymously to all data sources and across all partner organizations with the use of the Datavant de-identification and linkage software. This privacy-preserving record linkage (PPRL) solution allows a patient’s data within OneFlorida+ to be linked to any data they have at other healthcare sites. Use of this data is licensed at no cost for federal and internally sponsored projects and a per-project fee for industry-sponsored projects. For industry sponsored projects, use of the software requires a flat $20,000 and then any programming time is charged separately on top of the flat fee.

Research Informatics and Complex Data Query Consults

OneFlorida+ team of biomedical informatics faculty and staff assist researchers in conducting cohort discovery and in defining patient selection criteria and required data elements. The team can help connect investigators to formulate and expand research ideas to best leverage the data trust resources.

Linkage with Datavant Death Index

OneFlorida+ utilizes Datavant’s Death Index. The index is a dataset containing information on deceased individuals in the United States and Canada. It contains over 100 million historical deaths, with over 50 thousand deaths added weekly. This dataset is linked with OneFlorida+’s EHR and claims data.

Community Scientists

At the University of Florida, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute’s Clinical Community Scientist Program engages community members as partners with scientists and clinicians in the research process. Patients with lived experience and families of individuals with particular healthcare issues collaborate throughout the entire research endeavor, including identifying study topics, study design, recruitment, retention, interpretation of the findings, and information dissemination.

At the University of Miami, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute is expanding the way research reaches patients. With the launch of the Consent-To-Contact Initiative, patients can take advantage of a new service that creates opportunities for them to participate in the latest clinical studies that are right for them. They do so by authorizing their consent to be contacted about research during point of care at a University of Miami Health System (UHealth) clinic.

OneFlorida+ Community Scientists provide lay perspective into research design including:

  • Grant review
  • Acceptability and feasibility assessments
  • Stakeholder engagement strategies
  • Innovative dissemination plans
